Anubias barteri var. nana is a petite and aesthetically pleasing plant that flourishes in various environments. Its origins can be traced to Cameroon and it can reach a height of 5-10 cm. The rhizome can grow to 10-15 cm or more, albeit at a slow pace. The plant's long-lasting leaves provide an ideal environment for slow-growing algae to establish themselves. The best results are obtained when planted on a stone or tree root, with the use of fishing line to secure it until it takes root. When planted on the bottom, the rhizome should not be submerged, as this can cause it to decompose. This plant is known to often bloom underwater and can thrive in shaded areas where other plants may struggle. It is also not a preferred food source for herbivorous fish.
