This particular variety of Hygrophila pinnatifida, known as "Hygrophila pinnatifida sp. UK", originated from India and is found in Uttara Kannada, a district of the state of Karnataka. It is slightly different from the standard H. pinnatifida form commonly found in the border area between Goa and Maharashtra. The leaves of Hygrophila pinnatifida "Uttara Kannada" are longer with a more prominent red hue and a stronger pinnate lobed structure.
