Rotala ramosior, a daring annual plant native to wetlands in North to South America and naturalised in Asia, boasts long stems that reach at least 20 cm underwater. In the aquarium hobby, there are numerous variations of this species. One such variation, Rotala ramosior "Florida", sports small, elongated leaves that are a stunning red-violet shade under the right conditions. The leaf midrib, base, and stem contrast beautifully in light green. Unlike its cousin "Sunset", this demanding plant grows at a slightly slower pace and usually reaches a height of 9 cm in a month. To keep it thriving, be sure to include CO2 and an ample supply of nutrients. Fertilizing through the substrate is also highly recommended. It's best to use young plants from tissue culture cups only in established, well-managed aquariums. Propagation can be achieved through cuttings, but take caution.
