Native to the Rio Guaporé basin in Brazil and Bolivia, the Sterbai Cory is one of the most popular and hardy Corydoras species in the aquarium hobby, prized for its striking pattern and easygoing nature. It reaches a maximum size of around 6-7 cm (2.5-2.75 inches), making it a great fit for a wide range of community tanks.
Appearance: A dark brown to black body covered in a dense network of small white to golden spots, with distinctively orange-tinted pectoral fins that make it easy to distinguish from other Corydoras species. Its underslung mouth and characteristic "whiskered" barbels are built for foraging along the substrate.
Temperament: A peaceful, highly social bottom-dweller that should always be kept in groups of 6 or more. In good-sized schools, they display more natural foraging behavior and appear noticeably more confident and active.
